Man United target Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko

edin-dzekoManchester United are set to intensify their pursuit of VfL Wolfsburg marksman Edin Dzeko, according to a report in The Manchester Evening News.

Although United boss Sir Alex Ferguson asserted over the weekend that he was not planning to spend big in January, it seems that reinforcing his attacking options may be something of a priority.

Ferguson has seen the 23-year-old Bosnian Dzeko in action for the Wolves at Old Trafford in the Champions League this season and will have another opportunity to check on his progress when the German champions host the Red Devils in the final game of their group.

United have also been rumoured to be interested in David Villa (Valencia), Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux) and Carlton Cole (West Ham United) as their search for a striker begins to gather momentum.
