Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell has claimed Arsenal are back in transfer talks after a potential £1million move fell through last month when Manchester United were also linked.

Joel Campbell, who plays for Deportivo Saprissa, said: “We are talking to Arsenal again.

I have not signed yet but I’m waiting to hear from my agents.”

Meanwhile, the father of Valencia winger Juan Mata is expecting the Gunners to return after missing Sunday’s buy-out contract clause deadline, with the figure set at £18m.

Juan Manuel Mata Rodriguez said: “There are several offers for Mata and I think that Arsenal will come forward again.”

Cesc Fabregas is expected to attend Arsenal’s annual Members’ Day at the Emirates tomorrow, where the Gunners will take their official team photo, despite reports in Spain claiming Barcelona are close to signing him.
