Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City will fight it out to sign Crewe youngster Nick Powell this summer, according to reports.

The 18-year-old starlet is a product of the famous Crewe youth system that nurtured the likes of Dean Ashton, Robbie Savage and Danny Murphy, and is highly rated by the League Two club who are likely to demand at least £1.5 million for him.

“All the big clubs are looking at Nick Powell,” a source told Goal.com.

“There have been approaches from Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Manchester City. But they have been told he is not available.

“Crewe rate him in the seven figure category, even up to £1.5m but they don’t want to sell and Dario Gradi is adamant he won’t leave. Historically, he is very good at persuading young players to serve their apprenticeships before moving to the big clubs.”

Comfortable in a midfield role or as a striker, Powell has 11 league goals for Crewe this season and won the Football League Young Player of the Month award for December.
