Everton defender Leighton Baines is being watched by German giants Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions sent a scout to Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Wigan but it was the previous week’s performance against Chelsea that caught their attention.

Baines gave Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic a torrid time and delivered a pinpoint cross that helped set up Jermaine Beckford’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw.

The Champions League side are not thought to be planning a January move for the 26-year-old but could be interested in a £10m bid at the end of the season according to reports in the German press.

The former Wigan man is under contract at Goodison until June 2014 but the chance to play in Europe’s top competition could tempt him away from England and help resurrect his international career after he failed to make the World Cup squad in the summer.
