Tottenham and Arsenal are set to fight it out over the acquisition of Sunderland’s star man Stephane Sessegnon.

The 27-year-old Benin international has earned rave reviews as the Black Cats have surged up the table since the arrival of Martin O’Neill as manager.

Both the north London clubs are keen to boost their attacking options according to The Sun and as Sessegnon has proven Premier League pedigree, he is an attractive proposition.

The attacking midfielder has often operated as an emergency striker this season and he has scored seven goals in all competitions.

Sessegnon only arrived at the Stadium of Light from Paris Saint-Germain last January for a fee believed to be in the region of £6million, and they are likely to want to make a significant profit if they are to sell.
