Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is lining up a summer swoop for Porto’s £85m-rated Hulk.

Blues boss Villas-Boas has revealed the Brazilian, who helped him win an incredible quadruple in Portugal last season, is exactly the sort of player he would like to recruit to boost his ageing squad.

Starsport revealed AVB’s interest in bringing the 25-year-old star from Portugal when he took over at Stamford Bridge.

Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa claimed there was an £85m release clause in the player’s contract and negotiations went no further.

But the Chelsea boss has healed the rift with his former club over his departure, and was invited to watch last week’s Europa League clash at Manchester City.

He has been trying to change the make-up of his squad, and will almost certainly have vacancies up front with both Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou set to leave when their contracts expire.

Florent Malouda has also indicated a willingness to move on.

Villas-Boas told a Portuguese radio station: “We have Kalou and Malouda, both of whom are nearing the end of their contracts, while Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge are the future.

“There will be a place to fi ll and I see room for an explosive player on the wing, someone who is strong in one-on-one situations and Hulk fi ts that profile.”
