Chelsea’s long-awaited rebuilding is set to gather speed this summer with moves for Newcastle duo Cheick Tiote and Tim Krul and Porto striker Hulk, according to reports.

Hulk has an £85million buy-out clause in his contract, one story says, but his Portuguese club are prepared to renegotiate and accept a fee of 40m euros (£34m) after the 25-year-old asked if he could leave.

Meanwhile, another report says a £30m joint move for midfield warrior Tiote, 25, and keeper Krul, 23, is also in the pipeline.

Adam Maher of Dutch side AZ Alkmaar is already being eyed as Tiote’s replacement at St James’ Park, the piece continues.
