Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini is set to submit a transfer request today in an attempt to force through a move to Manchester United.
United are now expected to make a renewed bid for the Belgium international having seen an offer of £23.5m rejected last week as part of a £36m joint bid for Fellaini and team-mate Leighton Baines.
Fellaini has a £23.5m release clause in his contract which expired on July 31, but kicks back in on January 1, and United boss David Moyes has been reluctant to pay more than that. His initial bid for Fellaini was just £16m.
But the player is intent on moving to Old Trafford and is ready to put pressure on the Everton hierarchy.
Everton will press ahead with interest in James McCarthy of Wigan and Feyenoord’s Bruno Martins Indi if Fellaini leaves.
