Tricky winger Eljero Elia could be on his way out of Bundesliga side Hamburg as Premier League outfit Liverpool have shown an interest in signing the Netherlands international, according to a report in Hamburger Morgenpost.

Liverpool have been in disappointing form in the first half of the season and sit only joint ninth in the table at the moment. Therefore, manager Roy Hodgson is eager to add to his ranks this winter and he supposedly sees Elia as the perfect signing.

The 23-year-old joined HSV from Twente in the summer of 2009 and impressed in his first season with the Rothosen. However, current Hamburg coach Armin Veh isn’t completely satisfied with Elia’s performance this term and has benched the winger on more than one occasion.

Elia is far from happy with his current situation and could therefore be on his way out of Hamburg in the January transfer window.

The report suggests that the former Ajax youngster has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool and the Reds are supposedly ready to pay €15 million for Elia.
