Liverpool have denied making a loan offer to lure Micah Richards away from Manchester City.

Richards, whose season has been plagued by injury, has been talked up for a move away from the Etihad such has been his limited role.

Reports had suggest City have rejected a loan offer from Liverpool for Richards, however Brendan Rodgers is thought to have quashed any potential deal at his press conference.

With Glen Johnson struggling for fitness, Liverpool are keen to ease their mounting defensive crisis.

It looks set to be a busy few hours for City as they seek to strike deals for Porto duo Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are hoping to pip Tottenham to the £15 million rated Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.
