Manchester City are set to enter the race for Ravel Morrison as the youngster’s future at Manchester United remains up in the air.

Morrison is out of contract in the summer and looks set to leave Old Trafford after risking a row with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Scot claimed last week that Morrison had priced himself out of a new deal but the 18-year-old used his Twitter account to deny turning down a contract offer.

Newcastle tried to take advantage and lodged a £1million bid which United knocked back.

Arsenal remain keen while Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have been linked with the midfielder.

A short move across Manchester would be a controversial one and City have made discreet enquiries about the teenager, who has been dogged with off-the-field disciplinary problems.

City have already been tracking Morrison’s team-mate Paul Pogba for some time.

Pogba, a France Under 19 midfielder, is also out of contract at the end of the season.

He joined United from Le Harve in 2009 and is regarded as one for the future, with next season pencilled in as a potential breakthrough for the teenager.

But Pogba, who has made three Carling Cup appearances this term, is frustrated by a lack of first-team action and has offers from Serie A big guns AC Milan and Inter.

Ferguson is trying to persuade him his best bet is to stay with the Premier League champions but Pogba will weigh up all his options.
