Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is at the front of the queue to land Ipswich’s whizz-kid striker Connor Wickham in the summer.

Redknapp has fronted inquiries about the strapping Tractor Boys’ 17-year-old whose wonder goal against Sheffield United last week shot him further into the public eye.

The young hitman has been in and around the Ipswich side for a year.

But he could be on the move at the end of the season – if an acceptable offer comes in as the major clubs line up for him.

Top Ipswich sources reveal that Redknapp is the manager most interested in Wickham.

But Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish made a personal check on 6ft 3in Wickham playing for England Under-19s in midweek against Germany at Chesterfield.

Redknapp is keen to bring through a young English striker and would find a space for Wickham in his squad – with the full approval of chairman Daniel Levy, who has supported that policy in the past.

Ipswich will be looking for around £8m-£10million for Wickham.
