Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is chasing Aston Villa fullback Stephen Warnock.

The Mirror says Pulis is ready to save Warnock from his Aston Villa nightmare with a £4million summer swoop.

Stoke boss Pulis will offer the England international full-back an escape route from Villa – if he manages to keep the Potters in the Premier League.

Warnock, 29, is facing the exit at Villa Park after a bitter fall-out with manager Gerard Houllier.

The former Blackburn star has been made to train with the club’s Academy and has not made a first team appearance since the Premier League defeat at Manchester City in December.

However, Pulis aims to target the left-back at the end of the season, and will slug it out with Liverpool – where Warnock played as a youngster – and Wigan to sign him.
