Crystal Palace youngster Nathaniel Clyne is set to join Manchester United this summer after his contract expires with the south London club.

The Barclays Premier League champions have been tracking Clyne, 20, for a number of years but would be liable to pay the Eagles training compensation.

United made an initial move for the defender in January which he rebuked but Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to secure his man at the end of the season.

He was due to be named in the recent England Under 21s squad to face Belgium last month, but picked up the knock in training and is set to miss the next few weeks.

Newcastle, Fulham and Everton are also monitoring the situation surrounding the highly-rated right-back.
