Manchester United have turned their attentions to Porto’s Brazilian international Alex Sandro as they continue their search for the long-term replacement for Patrice Evra.

With Evra set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season United have been  scouring the market for a suitable replacement and Sandro appears to fit the bill.Reports in Portugal suggest that United will go head-to-head with Inter Milan to sign the 22-year-old.

According to Record Inter have already made a £12.5m bid for Sandro turned down with Porto holding out for more after becoming aware of United’s rival interest.

Sandro moved to Porto from Santos for £8m in 2011 having started his career at Atletico Paranaense in his homeland.

He has featured in 41 Primeira League games and scored two goals for Porto, and has also played six times for the Brazilian national team

Sandro is the latest name mentioned as a possible replacement for Evra, with Everton’s Leighton Baines, Saint Etienne’s Faouzi Ghoulam, Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao and Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno all rumoured to be in contention, while Alex Buttner remains on the books at United.
