Manchester United are preparing a £12m bid for Galatasaray’s Wesley Sneijder in January.

The Dutch midfielder has been linked with a move to both United and Chelsea in recent days, with Sneijder playing down the possibility of a move to Stamford Bridge.

But reports in Turkey suggest that United are set to test Galatasaray’s resolve with a £12m offer.

The Turkish language version of Eurosport report that United are ready to double the bid they made for Sneijder during the most recent transfer window.

It is thought that Sneijder has a £13m release clause in his contract, but United hope to lure the 29-year-old to Old Trafford without paying that figure.

Earlier this week Sneijder told Lig TV: “Everywhere Jose Mourinho goes they make some rumours about me following.

“Whatever club I’m at I will give 100 per-cent, I love this club and I am not even thinking about leaving.

“It’s just rumours and you will see come January I will be linked with Chelsea again but I am staying here.

“Every transfer market I am apparently moving to one club or another but these are just rumours, I am happy and I like life here.”

However, United remain unconvinced and retain hope that Sneijder can be persuaded to change his mind in the winter transfer window.

Sneijder currently earns £50,000-a-week in Istanbul but United may well be willing to match that figure to bring the Dutch international to England.
