Tottenham are set to take their summer spending past the £100million mark by splashing out £60m on attacking midfielders Willian and Erik Lamela.

Having already spent a combined £57.6m on Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue and Paulinho the double swoop paves the way for Gareth Bale’s world-record departure to Real Madrid.

Brazilian midfielder Willian arrived in London for a medical today and the highly-rated 25-year-old is on the brink of joining Spurs in a deal believed to be worth around £30m.

Argentina winger Lamela will cost a similar figure and his father Jose and agent Pablo Sebbag have a meeting scheduled today with Roma director of football Walter Sabatini and Spurs’ technical director Franco Baldini.

The news comes as Sky Italia report that a fee of £80m plus £20m-rated left back Fabio Coentrao has been agreed between Spurs and Madrid for the transfer of Bale.

Liverpool have been chasing Willian for some time and the Anzhi star has also received late interest from Arsenal, but he is set for a medical at Spurs today after flying into London.

Willian plays mainly behind the striker though is capable of playing on either flank and comes with bags of Champions League experience from his time at Shakhtar Donetsk.

He only left Shakhtar for Anzhi in January but the mega-rich Russians have decided to offload their prize assets and concentrate on developing their own players.

Willian is on around £85,000 a week at Anzhi and would demand at least that if he is to choose Spurs over Liverpool.

Lamela, 21, has emerged as one of the hottest properties in world football since joining Roma from River Plate in the summer of 2011.

A pacy winger capable of playing on either flank or as a second striker, the Argentine has scored 21 goals in 66 games for the Italian club.
