Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has accused Fernando Torres of betrayal, claiming the Spaniard’s move to Chelsea was “unacceptable”.

He said: “I think it’s unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool’s rivals. For a Dane it is about having respect for the club you play at.

“I am proud to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England.”

Agger has also admitted that Liverpool were awful under previous manager Roy Hodgson.

Agger added: “Look at the team – we played awful, we were s**t. When you look now every single player is better. But when we were losing, everybody was on top of us, everybody played bad.

“Confidence can win you games and Kenny (Dalglish) and Steve (Clarke) have put the confidence back in the players and we have shown that definitely in the last four games.

“Kenny likes to play positive football, going forward, and keeping the ball on the ground and he is good among the players.

“The training sessions at Melwood have been really good and everything starts at the training ground. If you get that right you have a big advantage in the games.”
