Roberto Mancini has been very guarded about whether Manchester City’s talismanic striker Carlos Tevez will play in Saturday’s FA Cup final, but the Argentine may have given the game away by stepping out in training with specially embroidered cup final boots.

Tevez has been sidelined for a month with a hamstring tear which had threatened to curtail his season, but has now made the strongest hint possible that he will feature in the showpiece final.

The Nike CTR 360 Maestri II boots have the words ‘FA Cup Final 2011, Carlitos 32’ stitched down one side giving City fans and Stoke City boss Tony Pulis an early indication of whether the club’s captain will play.

Tevez is desperate to feature against Stoke and shared some angry words with Mancini as he waited to come on against Tottenham on Tuesday night.

He eventually came on for 12 minutes but manager Mancini remained coy about whether tevez had done enough to earn a place in the starting line-up: ‘Carlos is getting better but I have another two days to decide if he can play or not.

‘We have created history already by getting into the Champions League, but it is time City won a trophy. It was important to beat United in the semi-final but this will be even harder. For Stoke, it is the game of their life.’
