Chelsea are ready to hand Eden Hazard a bumper new £200,000-a-week deal this summer to ward off interest from Europe’s big spenders.

The brilliant young Belgian has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe over the last 20 months, with displays that have lit up the Premier League.

French giants Paris St Germain, with virtually unlimited transfer funds thanks to their Qatari backers, tried to tempt Hazard last summer with a £50million offer that was rejected by Chelsea, but are expected to return again with a bigger offer at the end of this season. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also monitoring his situation.

Hazard, 23, is already Chelsea’s second top earner on around £180,000 a week, and he will have three years left on his contract at the end of this season.

However, Chelsea are laying down plans to ward off any potential offers by tying their brilliant young forward down

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who saw another superb Hazard performance help Chelsea through to the quarter finals of the Champions League on Tuesday in a 2-0 win over Galatasaray 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, has already said he wants Hazard to stay at the club for the next decade and intends to build his team around him.

Hazard, who joined Chelsea in a £32m deal from Lille in July 2012, had a good first season in English football, scoring 13 goals and winning the Europa League, but under Mourinho this year he has blossomed, already scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists with scintillating displays.

Mourinho has said Hazard is the best young player in the world, and given time could be ranked in the same bracket as superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

However, he was last night warned by Belgium manager Marc Wilmots that if he does not step up his displays for his country, he might not go to the World Cup.

Belgium are worried their star man will peak too soon in an exhausting season in England as Chelsea go for the Premier League and Champions League with Hazard too good a player to be rested, potentially leaving him exhausted for the finals in Brazil.on a new four or five-year deal which could be worth £200,000 a week – the same as misfit striker Fernando Torres.

Wilmots said: “Eden needs to improve his stats with the national team. Five goals, including two penalty kicks, in almost 50 games? This is not enough.

“I scored 29 times for Belgium and was less talented. I love him, but I ask him to be more decisive.

“If one day, I feel it is not in his spirit, I will do without him.”
Hazard made his debut for Belgium as a 17-year-old in 2008, and has scored five goals in 42 appearances.

He has admitted he needs to score more goals, saying: “I watch a lot of Ronaldo and Messi’s games, and I try to be the same. But to be the best player in the world, I have to score more.

“It’s just in my head. I have to shoot more. I can make the pass, I can shoot and sometimes I make the pass, but I will work on it.”
