Everton have rejected a £28million double bid from Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.

Old Trafford officials approached the Blues with a £16million move for Fellaini, before adding an extra £12million to the bid in an attempt to add England left-back Baines as well.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the offer was made only 48 hours ahead of the Premier League season’s opening day and was quickly snubbed as Roberto Martinez attempts to keep hold of the duo with only two weeks left in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have been linked with the pair this summer as David Moyes looks to raid his old club and strengthen his own side.

And having had bids for Cesc Fabregas rejected by Barcelona this summer, the former Everton chief isn’t likely to relent in his efforts to sign the pair.
