Maxi Rodriguez could make his return to the Liverpool team.

Midfielder Rodriguez has not featured since the fourth-round victory over Manchester United at the end of January due to a foot problem, but should be fit for selection for Sunday’s visit of the Championship Seagulls.

Reds manager Kenny Dalglish has indicated that young defenders Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson may come into his thinking for the tie.

Will Buckley has handed Brighton a boost.

The in-form winger was substituted at half-time against Leeds last weekend and, after missing the 2-2 draw with Millwall on Tuesday, was a doubt for the game at Anfield.

However, Buckley has proved his fitness and will be available to manager Gus Poyet against the Barclays Premier League giants.

Fellow winger Vicente Rodriguez also missed the Lions clash and will need to prove his fitness.

Poyet’s squad will be lacking the presence of midfielder Gary Dicker, who is sidelined with a fractured fibula, defender Tommy Elphick has an Achilles injury and midfielder Matt Sparrow completes his three-match suspension.
