harry-kane-tottenham-v-leicesterMatty James could make his long-awaited return to the Leicester squad for Wednesday’s FA Cup third-round replay at home to Tottenham.

The midfielder has been out for eight months with a knee injury, but could be on the bench on Wednesday night after making his comeback in the development squad.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is again expected to make changes to his team with Ben Chilwell, Marcin Wasilewski, Ritchie De Laet, Andy King, Leonardo Ulloa and Damarai Gray, set to make his home debut, all in the frame for recalls.

Tottenham, who were beaten 1-0 by Leicester in the Premier League a week ago, are also likely to make changes.

Harry Kane could be rested along with Mousa Dembele while Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb are both doubts.

“It’s impossible to play with the same players every game. It’s very difficult,” said Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino. “Sometimes we need to pick different players, to share the minutes and try to play like this.

“It’s important – you need to understand that we have 24, 25 players in the squad and it’s for that.”

Opta stats

Leicester have won just once in their last seven all-Premier League FA Cup ties at home (L4 D2) – but their solitary victory came in the last of such encounters, beating Newcastle 1-0 in the third round last season.

The Foxes have been beaten once in their last 11 home FA Cup games (W7 D3) – losing 2-1 to Huddersfield Town in a fourth-round replay in February 2013.

Leicester have kept four clean sheets in their last five FA Cup games at home, while Tottenham have scored just four times in their last nine cup matches away from White Hart Lane (including Wembley).

Tottenham have faced Leicester on 10 previous occasions in the FA Cup, including at the fourth round stage last year, which the Foxes won 2-1 at White Hart Lane.

Spurs lost on their last Cup trip to the King Power Stadium, losing 3-2 in a third round tie in January 2006.
