Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is hopeful a number of his key players will return for Saturday’s Premier League match at home to Manchester City.

Gabriel Agbonlahor, Fabian Delph, Andreas Weimann, Ciaran Clark and Antonio Luna should all be available again after recent knocks and niggles.

Lambert remains without Christian Benteke and Ashley Westwood, whilst Jores Okore, Charles N’Zogbia and Gary Gardner are long-term casualties.

Meanwhile, Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero is to miss the trip to Villa.

The Argentina forward suffered a knock in the latter stages of the Manchester derby last Sunday and will not be risked ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

Playmaker David Silva is still out but could return against Bayern, while defender Martin Demichelis remains on the sidelines.

Manuel Pellegrini may have seen Manchester City fire out a chilling title warning last weekend but is yet to win away in the Premier League.

While their dismantling of United on Sunday showcased all that is good about Pellegrini’s squad, they have appeared brittle defensively at Cardiff and Stoke.

Aston Villa frequently struggle in front of their own supporters and will be without Christian Benteke for a month so this promises to be an intriguing encounter.

Stat of the game: City have won six of their last seven league encounters with Villa.
