Ashley Cole is available again as Chelsea take on Barclays Premier League title rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

The England left-back has been absent with a rib problem, but is expected to slot straight into the side in place of Cesar Azpilicueta, the right-back who played on the left in Tuesday’s Champions League clash at Schalke.

Midfielder Marco van Ginkel, who is out long-term with a knee injury, is the only injury absentee.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is still sidelined by a thigh problem and will miss Sunday’s clash at Chelsea.

Midfielder Jack Rodwell is fit to be involved, according to manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Defender Martin Demichelis has made progress from a knee injury having not yet featured since his summer arrival.

If you believe the bookmakers, it is either Manchester City or Chelsea who will win the Premier League this season and it is quite conceivable that their two matches against each other will ultimately decide the title. The first takes places tomorrow, with both teams in good form but determined not to lose further ground to Arsenal. Jose Mourinho seemed happy to play for a draw at Old Trafford earlier this season and it will be fascinating to see if he is more daring at home against another major rival.

Stat of the game: 2 Man City have won just two of their previous 16 Premier League trips to Stamford Bridge, with both victories ending 4-2.
