Mohamed Salah is not yet available as Chelsea take on West Ham in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The Egypt forward’s signing was confirmed on Sunday, but he has not yet arrived in England to join a squad where striker Fernando Torres (knee) and midfielder Marco van Ginkel (knee) are the only injury absentees.

Jose Mourinho has promised not to make changes with Monday’s Manchester City match in mind and to take on the Hammers on their own merits, but Demba Ba could be given a rare start up front in place of Samuel Eto’o.

Meanwhile, West Ham could hand debuts to new signings as Antonio Nocerino and Marco Borriello.

The two Italy internationals have signed on loan until the end of the season to bolster the Hammers’ squad, which is starting to recover from the injury setbacks over the Christmas period.

Captain Kevin Nolan returns from a four-match ban, with only Joe Cole (groin) a definite absentee against one of his former clubs.

Frank Lampard normally thrives against his old club so expect the midfielder to feature as Chelsea look to claim an eighth straight win in all competitions and keep the pressure on Manchester City and Arsenal.

West Ham will have a new Italian look but whether two players with no experience and little knowledge of the Premier League can turn a team with only four league wins all season into one capable of inflicting Jose Mourinho’s first ever home league defeat at Stamford Bridge remains to be seen.

Stat of the game: West Ham are the only team in the Premier League not to have scored a headed goal this season.
