Manchester City trio Yaya Touré, David Silva and Vincent Kompany are all back in contention to face Cardiff in the Premier League this weekend.

Captain Kompany and midfielders Toure and Silva were all rested for the 5-0 FA Cup third-round replay win over Blackburn in midweek.

Sergio Agüero, who came off the bench in midweek after eight games out, could feautre.

Striker Stevan Jovetic and midfielder Jack Rodwell are close to fitness while playmaker Samir Nasri is a long-term casualty.

Cardiff, meanwhile, are set to be without Andrew Taylor and Jordon Mutch.

Taylor has an ankle problem, while Mutch is also sidelined by injury, but Craig Bellamy could start after making an impact off the bench against West Ham last week.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also has to decide whether to hand first starts to new signings Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Moller Daehli.

It is almost 10 years since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s last tangle with Manchester City and although plenty has changed to the Etihad Stadium club, he may experience similar feelings to that appearance in Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat in March 2004.

It would be a major surprise if the hosts, currently on 99 goals and with 10 wins from their 10 home matches in the league, do not advance into treble figures with plenty to spare against the Welsh side.

Stat of the game: Manchester City have scored 59 Premier League goals, 18 more than they had at this stage last season.

Manchester City (Possible, 4-2-31): Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Kolarov; Touré, Fernandinho; Milner, Silva, Dzeko; Agüero.

Cardiff City (Possible, 4-2-3-1): Marshall; Théopihile-Catherine, Caulker, Hudson, John; Medel, Whittingham; None, Kim, Odemwingie; Campbell.
