David Moyes refused to reveal whether any of his injured centre-halves will be available for Manchester United’s crunch derby against rivals City on Tuesday.

Chris Smalling (hamstring), Jonny Evans (calf) and Rio Ferdinand (back) sat out the 2-0 win at West Ham on Saturday, but manager Moyes was giving no clues away regarding their fitness when questioned on the matter at his pre-match press conference.

Winger Antonio Valencia (eye) is a doubt but defender Nemanja Vidic (suspension) and striker Robin van Persie (knee) are definitely unavailable.

Vincent Kompany will return from suspension to bolster Manchester City’s back-line in the big Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Kompany sat out City’s 5-0 thumping of Fulham at the Etihad Stadium after his sending-off in the previous week’s Barclays Premier League win at Hull.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is still without hamstring injury victim Sergio Aguero while centre-back Matija Nastasic is also unavailable due to a knee complaint.

If the weekend theme for goals is continued then expect a feast at Old Trafford.

United have confidence restored after the Liverpool debacle while City are back to their free-scoring ways following the rout of Fulham on Saturday.

That United have lost as many Premier League home games this season, five as in the previous three put together wil offer the visitors further hope for a valuable win.

Stat of the game: Yaya Touré has scored with nine of his 11 dead ball shots this season (five penalties, four direct free-kicks).
