Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc will miss the Premier League clash against Aston Villa because of a broken hand, which could sideline him for up to six weeks.

Reserve Kelvin Davis is also unavailable, so Argentine keeper Paulo Gazzaniga will deputise having come on to replace Boruc in the 3-1 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday.

French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin (groin) will miss out, while Uruguay international Gaston Ramírez is also not yet match fit along with defender Danny Fox and Brazilian midfielder Guly do Prado, who is a long-term absentee after undergoing knee surgery.

Meanwhile, Villa manager Paul Lambert will check on striker Andreas Weimann’s fitness.

The Austrian experienced a tight hamstring in Saturday’s goalless Premier League draw with Sunderland but is hopeful of being fit enough to feature at St Mary’s.

After the whirlwind start at Chelsea, Southampton suffered their heaviest defeat of the season but they should not lose heart.

They remain well-placed, in seventh, and are still unbeaten at home where they have conceded only two goals.

Villa have won more points away from home but last season they lost 4-1 at St Mary’s and will be concerned that the Saints will be in mean mood after defeats at Arsenal and Chelsea.
