West Brom will be without midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu against Manchester City at The Hawthorns.

Mulumbu is suspended for one game after collecting five yellow cards, with Claudio Yacob likely to step in as replacement.

Winger Scott Sinclair, on loan from City, cannot play against his parent club although he is out anyway with a hamstring problem, joining goalkeeper Ben Foster on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Manchester City captain and centre-back Vincent Kompany could return at West Brom after 10 games out with a thigh injury.

Fellow defender Matija Nastasic, playmaker David Silva and striker Stevan Jovetic all remain on the sidelines with calf injuries.

Costel Pantilimon is likely to be retained in goal ahead of Joe Hart after impressing in Sunday’s win over Swansea.

This is the start of a big test for Manchester City.

They score for fun at home but, on the road, they look like kittens: just eight away goals have been netted compared to 29 at home.

Similarly, they have won just four of their 25 points on the road and with two away games – they visit Southampton on Saturday – the challenge is to keep the pressure on Arsenal and Chelsea.

Albion are no pushovers but with two points from a possible nine, head coach Steve Clarke will be slightly concerned.

Stat of the game: Albion have scored just one goal in their last six Premier League games against Manchester City.
