Kolo Toure has been unveiled by Liverpool after completing his move to the club earlier today.

The former Arsenal defender, who was released from Manchester City at the end of last season, signed a contract at Melwood and becomes Brendan Rodgers’ fourth signing of the summer after Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas and Simon Mignolet.

And he told the club’s website Liverpoolfc.com: “This means a lot to me. Firstly, I’m joining one of the best clubs in England.

“When I left City it was important for me to stay in England because it’s the best league – and to join Liverpool is massive for me.

“I chose Liverpool because of the history and because of the spirit of the team and the people here.”

The 32-year-old signed as most of Liverpool’s squad returned for pre-season training.
