Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli begins a suspension for his sending off at Arsenal.

Influential midfielder Yaya Toure is also unlikely to feature after limping off with a knee injury in Sunday’s loss at the Emirates Stadium.

Playmaker David Silva (knee) will be assessed while striker Carlos Tevez could push for a start after four successive substitute appearances.

West Brom have suffered a double injury setback ahead of the game with Chris Brunt and Liam Ridgewell both ruled out with knee problems. Paul Scharner and Nicky Shorey will be in contention to replace the duo.

Brunt and Ridgewell join winger Jerome Thomas (knee), midfielders Zoltan Gera and James Morrison (both knee) and right-back Steven Reid (foot) on Albion’s injury list.

Defender Gabriel Tamas has been given leave to attend the birth of his wife in Romania but striker Marc-Antoine Fortune has shaken off a knock suffered in the weekend win over Blackburn.
