Luis Suarez ended his two-month Premier League goal drought to give Liverpool their first home win since September.

A 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers has revived Kenny Dalglish’s top four hopes, and ended his Uruguayan striker’s week of personal turmoil.

Suarez showed no signs the FA charges hanging over him are having a negative effect with a typically effervescent performance.

His winner arrived on 47 minutes at The Kop end, as he headed Charlie Adam’s left wing cross past keeper Radek Cerny.

It was the least Suarez and Liverpool deserved for creating a multitude of chances.

Dalglish made three changes to the side defeated at Fulham. Jay Spearing began his three-match ban, replaced by Maxi, while Stewart Downing took Craig Bellamy’s spot on the wing.

Andy Caroll’s stop-start Anfield career continued as he was left on the bench to accommodate a recall for Dirk Kuyt.

For all their attractive football under Dalglish, there’s been a familiar failing in front of goal, especially at Anfield.

The trend continued in the first half, with Suarez unable to match scintillating build-up play with a finishing touch.

When Liverpool did create decent openings, QPR keeper Cerny did nothing to damage Dalglish’s theory about visiting keepers keeping their best form for visits to Anfield.

Cerny comfortably caught Suarez’s header on 10 minutes after a Downing cross, but needed great agility to shove away Maxi’s goalbound strike after he’d been sent through by Kuyt.

At other times, Liverpool were haphazard and anxious in their opponent’s box. Suarez is able to bewilder defenders with his skill and pace, but also spectators with his capacity for shooting from daft angles.

Twice he chose to go for goal from improbable, tight situations when team mates were well placed for a tap-in, had he passed.

But he made amends after the break, although Cerny’s heroics, as he denied Maxi and Suarez from adding a second, made for an anxious finale when the visitors hunted an unlikely equaliser.
