Nemanja Vidic looks increasingly likely to leave Manchester United at the end of the season after his agent ruled out a contract extension.

The United captain has just six months remaining on his current deal and so could leave for nothing, most likely to Serie A.

The club would like to enter talks over a new contract but his agent Silvano Martina ruled this out.

Speaking to Radio Crc in Napoli, he said: ‘Vidic, given his contract situation, has several teams looking at him.

‘Vidic is a very good player and will have no trouble finding a new club. For the time being we are remaining calm.

‘However, at the moment, I would rule out an extension with Manchester United.’

Vidic could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club this month and then play for United until the end of the season.

The Serbian centre-back, 32, has suffered two serious knee injuries over the past three years, making any contract extension likely to be no more than one year.
