Harry Redknapp has challenged his side to qualify for next year’s Champions League after they were knocked out of the competition by Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur were comprehensively beaten 5-0 over the two legs to end their memorable first campaign in Europe’s elite cup competition.

With seven matches to go in the Premier League and Spurs three points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City, albeit with a game in hand, it could be a tense end to the season for Harry Redknapp’s side.

The Tottenham manager said: “If we can make the top four again it would be a great achievement. It is even harder than last year because of the money Man City spent and the players they brought in.

“It’s not going to be easy. You only have to look at the other teams trying to qualify. Man City finished a couple of points behind us last year and spent about £150 million to finish above us.

“But we should be trying to finish in the top four every year. We have to keep working to do that.”
