Robin Van Persie has expressed his desire to link up with fellow countryman Arjen Robben at Manchester United.
Robben, who lifted a domestic double with Bundesliga this term, has been linked with a move back to England. He is thought to be one of Louis Van Gaal’s top targets should he be given the keys to Old Trafford.
And Van Persie, who is Holland’s all-time leading scorer, wants to partner Robben up front at club level.
“We played quite well in the second half. I believe in this system – it is different, but it is one that creates opportunities,” Van Persie told Dutch TV station SBS6.
“Would I be happy to play with Arjen Robben in attack?”Yes, of course. He is a fantastic player and he can play anywhere.”
Van Persie’s season was disrupted by injury, but he still managed to score 18 goals in all competitions.
