England star Kyle Walker has signed a contract extension with Tottenham that will keep him at the club until 2019.

The right back has been an ever present feature of Spurs’ back-line this season and has committed his long-term future to the club by penning a six-year contract. The news comes as another boost for Andre Villas-Boas, who saw his side eke out a 1-0 win yesterday at home to Hull.

Walker was voted young Player of the Year by the Professional Football Association in 2012.

“It’s fantastic. When I first signed when I was 18, I always wanted to make it a long stay,” Walker told Spurs TV

“Hopefully there will be medals with that.

“The lads are fantastic and the manager makes it easier for you to sign a new contract.

“I’m very thankful to the chairman for giving me an extension and hopefully I can repay him with my performances on the pitch and help us get a top four spot.”

He has made 112 appearances for Spurs, scoring just twice.

Spurs are currently fourth in the table, three points behind pace-setters Arsenal.
