Manchester United have reportedly joined Liverpool and Leicester in the race to sign Swedish youngster Alexander Isak.
The 17-year-old has emerged as one of the world’s top young talents and has got off to a flying start since breaking into the first-team at AIK Solna, scoring 12 goals in 20 appearances
And his goalscoring prowess and likeness to Sweden icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic has attracted the interest of Liverpool, who have apparently been tracking the 6ft 3in striker.
However, Swedish newspaper Expressen claim Manchester United have now been alerted to his talents and will compete with the Reds to sign the Sweden Under-21 international.
Jose Mourinho’s lack of proven success with young players means that Jurgen Klopp will have hope of landing Isak, but United could look to use the presence of Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford to help tip the balance in their favour.
But United and Liverpool are not alone in the race to sign Isak, with Expressen suggesting that Leicester, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter and Roma are also interested.
And AIK team-mate Chinedu Obasi admitted last month that he has no doubts about Isak fulfilling his potential and signing for a huge club – branding him the next Ibrahimovic.
“He is a great potential, and I absolutely believe that he will go far,” Obasi said.
“If he concentrates and continues as he is, I think he can become Sweden’s next Ibrahimovic.
“He has the potential, everyone can see it.”
