Angry Manchester United fans have called on chief executive Ed Woodward to be sacked for signing Marouane Fellaini.

United snapped up the midfielder from Everton for £27.5m on transfer deadline day.But the move has gone down badly with frustrated supporters, who have turned on Woodward.

And they are now calling on the Old Trafford chief – who replaced David Gill – to step down.

A forum thread entitled United sign Fellaini on redcafe.net has attracted more than 81,000 views, with many voicing their discontent at the situation at the club.Fans express their displeasure in four-letter rants with Fellaini described as an “underwhelming signing”, “an awful signing” and, most damningly, “a taller version of Quinton Fortune”.

One warns there will be a backlash from the fans and another adds: “It’s an awful signing made even worse by the fee and not getting Herrara, I feel sick.”

While some express sympathy with Fellaini, there’s little afforded to Woodward.

Supporters describe themselves as “fuming” and dub Woodward as “a clown”.

An angry poster adds: “There is simply no way anybody can defend Woodward, and he needs to be sacked right away before he can make our club look like any more of a joke.”
