Error-prone Manchester United keeper David De Gea faces corrective eye surgery at the end of the season, according to reports.

The Spaniard, who is currently United’s second-choice despite arriving from Atletico Madrid in a bumper £18million deal six months ago, is long sighted and wears contact lenses in games.

Anders Lindegaard has started United’s last three matches after a De Gea mistake contributed to their shock home loss to relegation candidates Blackburn on New Year’s Eve.
