Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard faces missing the title run-in after suffering an injury setback.

The Barclays Premier League leaders expected the Dane to be out for a month after suffering ankle ligament damage in a January training session.

But the 27-year-old has made slow progress in his recovery and his comeback has been put on hold, reports the Sun.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will not take any risks with Lindegaard as £17.8m David de Gea has been outstanding in recent weeks after a nervous start and 21-year-old Ben Amos providing assured back-up.

The setback is a huge blow for Lindegaard, who had started to establish himself as a regular at United when he landed awkwardly attempting to catch a cross in training.

Lindegaard, who joined from Norwegian side Aalesunds in January 2011, is now back working with physios, working on building up the strength in his ankle.
