Darren Bent has completed his move from Aston Villa to Fulham on a season-long loan today.

The 29-year-old has become The Cottagers seventh summer signing under new owner Shahid Khan.

Martin Jol accomplished his goal of bringing in the England international, having hijacked Crystal Palace’s bid at the eleventh hour.

Fulham are thought to have agreed to pay a loan fee in the region of £2m, while taking on the Lion’s share of Bent’s £65,000-a-week wages at Villa Park.

Other notable arrivals include forward Adel Taarabt, another loan signing from recently relegated QPR and goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg from Roma.

The 29-year-old, capped 13 times by England, joined Villa from Sunderland in January 2011 but spent much of last season on the bench after falling out of favour. He had been a prolific scorer on Wearside, netting 36 goals in 63 appearances.
