cavani-rabiot-psgArsenal are lining up a spectacular double swoop for Paris Saint-Germain stars Edinson Cavani and Adrian Rabiot.

The Gunners are keen to bolster both their attack and midfield, having only signed Petr Cech so far this summer.

They were beaten on the opening day by West Ham and scraped past Crystal Palace in their second match.

But Arsene Wenger is concerned at having become too reliant on Francis Coquelin, who had a fantastic second half of last season, but has struggled this term.

He was substituted against Palace having picked up a booking and should have been sent off after committing two further fouls.

The only back up in the deep midfield role is club captain Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, who is expected to leave the Emirates.

Arsenal are also light up top despite Olivier Giroud’s spectacular goal at Selhurst Park.

Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck are Wenger’s other options in attack but both are often used in wide roles.

Arsenal have been linked with Karim Benzema, but the Real Madrid man is thought to be happy in Spain, while Cavani may be attainable having had a frosty relationship with Laurent Blanc in Paris.

Last season Cavani, along with team-mate Ezequiel Lavezzi, was dropped following a late return from the winter break.

Cavani is also reportedly unhappy at having been used wide so often to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Uruguay striker is valued at around £45million, while Rabiot would cost in the region of £25m, and according to reports talks are underway.
