Bakkali’s current deal expires next summer but the youngster wants reassurances both about his playing time and his relationship with PSV before committing his future to the club.
Bakkali’s agent, Didier Frenay, has confirmed that he is due to sit down with PSV in the near future but conceded a transfer to England or Italy remained a possibility.
He told HLN: “We need to look at whether we can leave the past behind us.
“After a few weeks of preparation, we are ready to sit down with the leadership of PSV and discuss Zakaria’s future.
“If he’s not going to play in the first team more then there is no reason to talk.
“What happens if the conclusion is that it is better if we go our separate ways? Then so be it.
“There is a lot of interest in him. From the rest of the world – from Italy to the UK.
“From Belgium too? Yes, but first we want to quietly talk to PSV.
“If nothing comes of that, then a transfer is the solution.”
