Arsene Wenger is tracking Borussia Dortmund’s Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa.

The 23-year-old could be allowed to leave for around £7million this summer, because his contract expires next summer.

Manchester United have been courting the prolific attacking midfielder, but Arsenal are now also watching developments closely.

Kagawa, who has scored nine goals in 29 appearances for Japan, wants to move to England and would also be seen as a great investment as he is hugely popular in his homeland.

Dortmund are resigned to losing him and believe he will go to the Premier League this summer.

Club president Michael Zorc said earlier this month: “Shinji is going to play in England because he has officially rejected our offer of a new contract.”

Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on Luis Neto, a 23-year-old defender at Portuguese club Nacional.
