Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel is set to complete his move to Chelsea after the clubs agreed a fee of around £9million.

Van Ginkel, 20, who has won one cap for Holland, now needs to pass a medical and agree personal terms to become Jose Mourinho’s second signing after Andre Schurrle.

A statement on the Chelsea website read: ‘Chelsea Football Club and Vitesse Arnhem have reached an agreement for the transfer of Marco van Ginkel.

‘The player will join Chelsea subject to a medical, agreement of personal terms and legal documentation.’

Van Ginkel joined Vitesse aged seven in 1999 and came through the youth ranks before making his debut in 2010.

He has played for Holland’s Under 19 and Under 21 teams and was handed his full international bow in a friendly against Germany last year.

The move takes Mourinho’s spending to £27m since returning for a second spell at Stamford Bridge. Germany forward Schurrle arrived from Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the summer on a five-year deal.
