Jose Mourinho and Chelsea have begun talks over a sensational swap deal involving Eden Hazard and Edinson Cavani, which could scupper Manchester United’s intentions for the Uruguayan hitman.

It is thought he is unhappy at the club and is believed to have expressed a desire to move to United ahead of Chelsea.

But reports in France suggest talks are underway over a swap deal that could see Hazard move to the Parc des Princes.

Hazard deepened his conflict with Mourinho earlier this week when he suggested “Chelsea are not made to play football”.

Mourinho in response hit back at the suggestions and claimed Hazard doesn’t sacrifice himself for the team insofar as defensive duties go.The sequence of events evokes memories of the Juan Mata episode with the Spanish playmaker moving to Manchester United in the January window.

Chelsea are looking to revamp their attack, and while Diego Costa is high on their agenda, it remains to be seen whether Cavani will follow him to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
