Michael Ballack has emerged as a target for LA Galaxy as they ponder a replacement for Paris-bound David Beckham.

Former England skipper Becks, 36, is expected to pen a move to Paris St Germain in January as a free agent after five years at the California club.

And Galaxy are on the lookout for a marquee signing to fill the void he will leave behind.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, who is out of contract in the summer and is yet to agree new terms with the Blues, is another target for the LA outfit.

But People Sport understands the 33-year-old’s former Blues team-mate Ballack is now their top target.

The ‘designated player rule’ allows MLS clubs to smash the league’s salary cap for one player per squad.

Ex-Germany captain Ballack, 35, who won 98 caps for his country, returned to Bayer Leverkusen in 2010 after leaving Stamford Bridge and will be out of contract next summer.
