Liverpool and Arsenal are to go head-to-head to sign Lille winger Salomon Kalou.
The Ivory Coast international has been key to the Ligue 1 outfit’s Champions League qualification. He netted 16 goals and assisted five in all competitions, leading to speculation of a Premier League return.
The Gunners – who attempted to bring the forward to the Emirates in a loan deal in January – have reignited their interest, but now Liverpool have joined the chase for his services.
Kalou has a proven record in England, finding the back of the net 60 times and setting up 44 in his six years at Chelsea. But the Premier League duo will have to fend off clubs from across Europe, with Roma, Atletico Madrid, Monaco and Galatasaray all keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.
Kalou has two years remaining on his contract at Lille and the club will want to make a healthy profit from the sale.
