Richairo Zivkovic is attracting admirers from abroad, but domestic giants Ajax admit that they too are chasing the wonderkid

Liverpool  and Manchester City face competition from Dutch giants Ajax to land wonderkid Richairo Zivkovic.

The teenage winger is one of the hottest young prospects in Europe and currently plies his trade for Groningen, the same side that brought Luiz Suarez to Europe in 2006.

While he has been compared to Arjen Robben, Zivkovic, 17, can play anywhere across the front three and sees himself as a centre-forward.

The Reds were alerted to his talent 18 months ago, and have been impressed by the young forward while while monitoring the progress of Kristian Adorjan’s loan at Euroborg. And despite being broken into the team in a substitute role, Zivkovic has five goals in five Eredivisie starts.

But Dutch champions Ajax have also joined the race and are expected to make a summer move in a bid to tie up all the best young domestic talent.

“He is an interesting player that we are following,” admitted Ajax Sporting Director Marc Overmars to Voetbal International .

“Thinking about possible reinforcements for next season, our preference is for Dutch players.”
